Menstruation is a normal biological process experienced by all adolescent girls and women, yet it is unspoken about openly causing unnecessary embarrassment and shame. A girl or a women undergo lot of physical and emotional transition at the onset of menarche and during the time of menopause. At this time they need a safe environment that offers protection and guidance to ensure their basic health, well-being, educational and employment opportunity.

Shine Trust fighting vigorously to address the myths about menstruation, physical and emotional impact during the onset of menarche and menopause, gynac issues, consequence of improper menstrual management, usage of reusable menstrual absorbents to adolescent girls and women in rural, semi-urban and slum dwells Bengaluru and Kolar District.

The focus of Menstrual Hygiene program is to empower women by alleviating a major constraint to their participation in education and public life.

  • Educating adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene, myths and facts surrounding menstruation at educational institutions.
  • Counselling the adolescent girls facing pubertal issues.
  • Education women on menstruation, reproductive health, family planning menopausal and gynac issues at community and corporate.
  • Providing employment to economically underprivileged women for making pads.
  • Distributing the reusable sanitary napkins in vulnerable areas/needy people with minimal cost.
  • Painting the slogans on "Menstrual Hygiene" for public awareness.
