Let's face it. You may have graduated in engineering, you might have done MBA, MCA, or any other program, yet you are not going to get a good job until you are proficient in the English language! English is not our national language, but it has taken the status of our professional language. When we consider the state of English in India, there is a belief that English is transformative. Both in rural and urban areas, it is believed that English is not just a skill. It is a symbol of prosperity, better life and a way out of poverty.

Shine strives to enable the Government school students, through improving their English language. The uniqueness of our program; we focus on all aspects such as enhancing reading, writing, speaking abilities and improving grammar as well as vocabulary skills.

The aim is to help the young minds to build their future in a better way.

Activities:

  • Conducting English communication classes for Government school students.
  • Psychological assessment for students who are facing challenges in studying and behavioural problems.
  • Educating the students about basic hygiene practices, civic responsibilities, moral education, good and bad touch,
  • Career guidance of SSLC students.
  • Activity based sessions, debates and essay competitions.
  • Activities focused on building a social responsibility in students.
    Eg: plantation of trees, cleaning the surroundings, caring for elders and specially abled.

Reading Skills:

The worksheet in this section covers a range of reading sub skills. It breaks from the pattern of teaching reading as merely decoding and follows a whole language approach. Some of the activities included in the reading work sheets are:

  • Picture reading.
  • Guessing and predicting while reading.
  • Reading a story followed by sequencing.
  • Reading and inferring.
  • Reading and drawing conclusions.

Grammar:

These worksheets involve contextual teaching of grammar, picture prompts, situations, conversations, error correction, editing exercise have been included to help students grasp concepts and reinforce the classroom learning.

Vocabulary and dictionary skills:
